We are deeply grateful to the countless individuals and organisations who tirelessly dedicate their energies and expertise to uplift those we support. Today, we highlight the extraordinary dedication of one such inspirational figure, hospitality aficionado and HA Ambassador Louise Hewitt, who is once again taking the reins and project managing our prestigious South West Polo Day this summer.

Why do you support Hospitality Action?

Over my many years of working with chef Brian Turner CBE, a patron of HA, I’ve had the privilege to witness the charity’s remarkable growth and impact. Having been in the hospitality industry from a young age, it’s heartening to see HA’s support for individuals and families within our sector. Supporting their cause is not only a clear choice but also a very fulfilling one. The team’s passion for assisting those in need is truly commendable and I consider myself so lucky to be working alongside them.

What do you believe sets HA apart from other industry charities?

The charity has been a beacon of support for individuals across every facet of this incredible industry. Since the challenges brought by Covid, I’ve seen the charity rise to the occasion, growing stronger and more resilient. In these trying times, the importance of raising funds has become even more evident. Every donation plays a significant role in transforming the lives of families within our industry, providing them with the support and resources they desperately need. It’s heart-warming to witness the collective effort and the positive impact we can make together.

What advice would you give to individuals who are interested in supporting HA but may not know where to start?

I would suggest taking the time to delve into the charity’s mission and the real impact of their work. Understanding how donations are utilised can highlight the difference being made. Starting with a small commitment, like volunteering time or skills, offers a first-hand experience of the charity’s operations. The camaraderie and dedication shown by the HA team and the industry professionals who help is unique. I can assure you; it’s not only rewarding but also enjoyable!! You could also take on a challenge for them, throw yourself out of your comfort zone and raise some money at the same time! Supporting HA is a meaningful way to give back, making a positive impact and contributing towards a better industry.

Tell us about the South West Polo Day, what can guests expect?

Firstly, I have personally had a word with the sun to make sure it’s shining just for us, kicking off everyone’s day with a big, sunny smile! As guests arrive at the Beaufort Polo Club, they will be greeted with not just one, but maybe two glasses of Taittinger champagne (!) on the lawns along with delicious canapes whipped up by our eight great chefs, please see the brilliant line up by clicking this link.

Then, get ready for a lavish three-course lunch with wonderful wines and followed by an exciting polo match to let the food settle! Just when you think it cannot get any better, we will head back into the marquee for an exquisite afternoon tea. I mean, who can resist scones and clotted cream as well as sweet treats crafted by none other than Hywel Jones and his head pastry chef Nicolas from Lucknam Park! We’ve got a prize draw, a silent auction and a main auction lined up. I would be over the moon if you could donate, aiming to beat last year’s fundraising total for this incredible cause. Shout out to all the kind sponsors for their support and indeed the polo committee, to whom I am very grateful.

So, go on, come join us! The team and I would be absolutely thrilled to see you there, soaking up the atmosphere and giving back!

Sincere thanks to Louise for her exceptional efforts on our behalf. If you’d like to purchase tickets to our South West Polo Day, at Beaufort Polo Club on Sunday 2nd June click here.
