Micro-donations are a simple, affordable and effective way for hospitality operators to raise vital funds for Hospitality Action. We’ve partnered with Pennies, the trusted leader in micro-donations, to make it possible.
What is Pennies?
Pennies is a charity that partners with businesses to enable donation opportunities at the point of payment, offering customers the chance to add a charity donation to their purchase when they pay digitally. In 15 years, they have unlocked more than 300million micro-donations for more than 1,100 charities – making giving simple, every day.
Campaign for us this September.
1st – 30th September 2026.
For the month of September, we’re asking hospitality operators across the country to invite their customers and guests, via Pennies, to round up their bills in support of HA’s work.
The winter months are always the worst for families living in poverty with many forced to choose between food or fuel, eating or heating.
Our annual Winter Fuel Grant scheme aims to ensure that as many hospitality households are saved this stark choice. With the funds raised from our partnership with Pennies, we’ll be able to award many more Winter Fuel Grants and ensure that more families can stay warm and put food on the table, despite soaring energy bills.
What your gift can achieve.

Could fund a child’s bed and mattress, ensuring a sound night’s sleep.

Could support a household with living costs immediately following redundancy during a critical period as they await the outcome of their benefit application.

Could pay for a respite break, allowing a dedicated 24/7 carer to take time out to look after themselves before they become exhausted and run down.
How it works.
For existing Pennies partners.
If you're already an established Pennies partner it's as simple as choosing Hospitality Action as your beneficiary during the month of September.
Pennies can help you switch from our current charity partner for the month, and switch back once the campaign ends. If you have an existing charity partner in mind for September but would still like to take part, it's possible to share donations between more than one charity.
For businesses new to Pennies.
If you're new to Pennies, don't worry – you could still take part! We can introduce to the team at Pennies to explore integration and setup, and assess if micro-donations would work for your business. You can find out more about how Pennies works on their website here, and read FAQs here.
Once setup with Pennies, you can use all year round to raise funds for your charity partners, including Hospitality Action.
Please note: Pennies cannot be enabled for this campaign only and then switched off. Pennies requires partners to enable micro-donations on an ongoing basis.
All participants will be provided with information about Hospitality Action, and how we'll use donations to form part of your Point of Sale or on-screen messaging.

How do I get involved?
Contact the Fundraising team with details of your business, and whether you are an existing Pennies partner or new to micro-donations. We’ll then organise a call to discuss next steps, and introduce you to Pennies if necessary.
For confirmed partners, we’ll also promote your participation on our social media channels and on our regular fundraising emails.
Whether you attend a gala dinner, organise your own fundraiser, or nominate us as your Charity of the Year, your actions will help those in real need.
