Blog. Back in the saddle: Summer Cycle Challenge 2026.

June 23, 2026 | Author Sophie Dodsworth

On Monday 22 June, cycling enthusiasts gathered at Lainston House for Hospitality Action’s annual Summer Cycle Challenge in the sweltering heat.

Held for the second time in the stunning Hampshire countryside, riders could choose from a selection of expertly designed routes ranging from 40 to 103 miles, created by the expert team at Andy Cook Cycling

So far, over £45,000 has been raised by 100 participants, with that figure expected to climb further before fundraising officially closes at the end of July.

Special congratulations go to our leading fundraisers, BM Caterers, who have so far collectively raised over £6,000! A particular shoutout goes to BM Caterers Managing Director Angus Brydon, our top fundraiser, who has so far raised an incredible £2,000 and counting!

What made the event so memorable wasn't only the breathtaking scenery, but also the incredible hospitality shown along the way. Cyclists tackling the 69-mile and 103-mile routes enjoyed premium pit stops at THE PIG in the New Forest, Chewton Glen Hotel & Spa and The John O'Gaunt Inn, where they were treated to exceptional refreshments and support.

Meanwhile, riders taking on the 40-mile route stopped at the charming countryside pub The Boot Inn, where welcome refreshments provided a well-earned boost in the summer sunshine.

Community spirit was at the heart of the event with teams from across the hospitality industry taking part in full force, representing businesses including The Ned London, THE PIG, Bidfood, Gold Key Media, Bill's Restaurants and more.

A huge thank you goes our Gold Sponsor Agilysys for sponsoring the ride tracking service provided by Geo Tracks, and ensuring every participant received a complimentary cycling jersey and commemorative medal.

The day concluded back at the beautiful grounds of Lainston House, where riders celebrated their achievements with a spectacular finish-line feast and a glass of chilled Taittinger Champagne.

Origin Coffee was on hand to provide the perfect fresh coffee-fix throughout the day, while ADA Cosmetics also treated participants to wellness packs to goody bags at their Wellness Station to help riders relax and recover after their efforts.

Special thanks also go to our event photographer Terry Hogan for so brilliantly capturing the spirit of the day.
