Blog. Spotlight on: Our Invisible Chips Stockists.
August 06, 2025 | Author Giuliana Vittiglio
Five years ago this summer, Invisible Chips began appearing on menus across the UK. Born out of lockdown and championed by ambassadors Fred Sirieix, Heston Blumenthal and Tom Kerridge, our award-winning “invisibles” are a fun alternative to adding a charity donation to the bill. By buying a bowl of nothing, customers are helping to make a tangible difference to hospitality lives one portion at a time.
We recently caught up with three inspiring stockists to find out how Invisible Chips continue to fuel guests’ curiosity.
The Coaching Inn Group have stocked Invisible Chips since 2021 and have raised over £40,000 and counting.
Adam Charity, Chief Operating Officer, says:
“At The Coaching Inn Group we wanted to find a creative and meaningful way to support people in the hospitality industry who’ve been hit hard in recent years. Stocking Invisible Chips is a simple but powerful way to raise funds for Hospitality Action. Doing so ultimately benefits our own team and provides access to all types of support including, financial, health and wellbeing and it allows our customers to contribute directly to a cause that keeps our industry strong and supported.
When customers first see Invisible Chips on the menu there’s usually a mix of surprise and curiosity, it definitely gets a smile! Once they understand it’s a light-hearted way to support a serious cause, most people really embrace the idea. It often sparks conversation at the table and even leads to larger donations.
Stocking Invisible Chips first and foremost shows that we care about our people. It also shows that we care about the wider hospitality community and that we’re not afraid to use a bit of humour to do something good. Supporting Invisible Chips reflects our ‘Hospitality from the Heat’ ethos, compassion, creativity, and a genuine commitment to giving back to the industry that we’re proud to be part of".
Iconic Luxury Hotels have stocked Invisible Chips since 2021 and have raised over £20,000 so far.
Guy Owen, General Manager, Chewton Glen, says:
“Invisible Chips are a light-hearted way to raise awareness and funds, often bringing a smile to customers while supporting a serious cause. There are no overheads, they don’t require storage, cooking or serving, there are no allergens and no cost to stock!
I’d describe Invisible Chips as 0% Fat,100% Kindness! By adding a portion to your order you will be helping hospitality families in need, especially those affected by job loss, illness, or financial hardship. At Chewton Glen, we would definitely recommend other stockists to get involved; this support is a lifeline for our industry".
Meanwhile, The George, The Cadogan Arms and The Hound have transformed Invisible Chips into Invisible Trifles!
Patrick Campbell, Group Operations, says:
“Hospitality Action supports the wellbeing of people in our industry during their toughest times. We deeply value this lifeline, it aligns with our commitment to community, care, and looking after the people who make hospitality what it is.
We say: “Invisible Trifles are a fun way to make a real difference, buying them means donating directly to hospitality workers in need, with zero calories but 100% heart.” It’s a light-hearted idea with a meaningful impact that resonates well with our guests.
Stocking Invisible Trifles has sparked more open conversations about the realities of working in hospitality. It’s helped staff feel proud of supporting a cause and created meaningful customer interactions centred on kindness and generosity".
