Blog. The wait is nearly over…Back to the Floor is Back!

After three long years our flagship gala fundraiser, Back to the Floor in association with Caterer.com, will make its grand return and we couldn’t been more thrilled. Taking place on Friday 8th April at the Royal Lancaster London the evening is a chance to witness the comradery and high-jinks of over 100 of the UK’s top hoteliers as they do their best to impress guests with their service skills. Previous years have seen playful sabotage and shenanigans as our most esteemed front of house team battle to earn the most tips in our honour.
Back to the Floor (BTTF) is the brainchild of Hotel Advisor & Consultant, Philp Newman-Hall, Managing Director of Exclusive Collection, Danny Pecorelli, Exclusive Collection and HA Ambassador Amanda Afiya. The past four events have raised a combined total of just under £300,000, a truly staggering sum.
We are extremely grateful to Caterer.com for stepping forward as headline sponsor once again, without them BTTF would simply not be possible. We are also indebted to Bunzl, Exclusive Collection, QIA Services, Sky and Umbrella Training for sponsoring the evening and to the Royal Lancaster London for hosting this uniquest of nights. Our expert compère Peter Hancock will guide us through the evening, of which one of the many highlights is witnessing our volunteer sommeliers pour magnums of Champagne. We are extremely thankful to our friends at Laurent-Perrier for making this possible. The magnums of wine have been donated once again by Hatch Mansfield and Matthew Clark with the evening’s fresh produce donated by Wellocks. Our photographer, former hotelier Jeremy Rata, and videographer Rosa Brough of Seven Fifty, will be on hand to catch any (or should that be the many!) spills or slips …and perhaps another impromptu conga line.
Long-standing waiter Jeremy Goring, CEO, The Goring says: “Back to the Floor is easily the funnest event of the year. Nothing is more entertaining than laughing at your boss making a hash of trying to do your job, and this event allows you to raise money while doing it. Awesome.”
Meanwhile event host Sally Beck, General Manager, Royal Lancaster London: “I jumped at the chance to host Back to the Floor 5, what an honour and a privilege to host this most unique fundraising gala. The world has shifted since we were at The Dorchester in 2019 and many of us are now a dab hand at front of house service, but I’m confident there will still be a few thrills and spills on the night!”
