Blog. Chefs Dinner at Grantley Hall

August 12, 2022

In less than two months award-winng chefs Kenny Atkinson, Glynn Purnell, Nigel Haworth and Shaun Rankin, the winners of the fourth series of BBC2’s Great British Menu (GBM), will come together at luxury hotel Grantley Hall to cook in our honour. Our lucky guests will enjoy a tremendous menu which will follow the 2009 GBM theme, a ‘Taste of Home’.

After enjoying a champagne and canapé reception, the meal will commence with Kenny Atkinson’s delicious starter, Salad of Aberdeen Angus Beef, carrots, horseradish and Shetland Black potatoes.

Kenny says; “I’m looking forward to being in the kitchen with Nigel, Glynn and Shaun as we each recreate our winning dishes from the 2009 ‘Great British Menu’ banquet. After eight weeks of heats and an intense final round I remember the thrill when my starter was chosen. I’m looking forward recreating my ‘Great British Menu’ memories and creating some more as we fundraise together in aid of Hospitality Action.”

Next up is Glynn Purnell’s tasty fish course of Masala spiced monkfish with red lentils, pickled carrots and coconut. Followed by Nigel Haworth’s main course, arguably his most famous dish, of Lonk Lamb Lancashire hotpot, pickled red cabbage, carrots and leeks.

Shaun Rankin, resident chef at [Shaun Rankin at] Grantley Hall explained how he was delighted to have the gang back together again: “I’m over the moon to welcome my good friends Kenny, Nigel and Glynn to Grantley Hall as we recreate a meal very close to our hearts. A lot has changed since 2009 but our friendship has stood the test of time…and so has the delicious treacle tart I’ll be preparing for dessert! I’m excited to welcome our guests and answer their questions in the Q&A. Raising a record-breaking sum for Hospitality Action will be the icing on the cake.”

Shaun will conclude the dinner with his dessert of Treacle tart with Jersey clotted cream and raspberry ripple coulis.

Alongside the mouth-watering dishes and great company guests will be able to bid on a host of unqiue prizes during the live auction and try their luck in our charity prize draw. All funds raised will help those in the hospitality industry in the face of the staffing crisis and sky-high cost of living.
