Two weeks ago none of us could have believed that 2021 would end much as it began; with our industry barely trading over the festive period and many businesses facing closure.
But here we find ourselves, facing another harsh winter for the hospitality sector. Today, just as then, my team stands ready to support in any way we can.
The challenging circumstances we face today mask some of the remarkable achievements of the last year.
Since Spring 2020, we’ve assisted more than seven and a half thousand households with approaching £2.2 million pounds of financial support. And we’ve fielded tens of thousands of calls to our 24-hour helpline.
All told, we’ve been able to offer support to well over 170,000 people.
That we’ve been able to achieve such unprecedented levels of support, is entirely down to your collective generosity. We receive no government funding, meaning that every pound we spend on the services we provide is earnt or donated.
Gratifyingly, our work has been recognised by our peers in the charity world. With your help, we’ve won the Charity Times Digital Fundraising Campaign and Charity of the Year awards, and the Association of Charitable Organisations Marketing Award.
Whether you’ve made us your charity of the year, stocked Invisible chips, hosted or attended an event, taken part in National Hospitality Day, phoned a Golden Friend, donated a prize, fundraised, launched a product in our honour or simply made a donation – thank you.
